Most Images may be ordered in one of two ways: prints or digital files. Some images are not available as digital files--if this is not an option in the ordering section under the image, a digital file is not available for sale.
All images on our website are heavily compressed and downsized for use in our on-line archive. Actual images are full-resolution and uncompressed. You may go to our large examples gallery at: http://www.pbase.com/alleycatdad/largesamples to view full-resolution samples of our images; these are very large and may take some time to download. Please remember to click "original" at the very bottom of the page to ensure that you are viewing the image at full-res.
Cropping
Most of our images fall into one of two categories: Full-frame and Cropped.
Full-frame images are composed into the full proportions of a 35mm frame (2:3); these images cannot be cropped into common print sizes without losing important parts of the image. These images are provided full-frame in digital form, or in full-frame print sizes: 8x12, 11x16, and 20x30 inches.
Cropped images are composed into the more common 4:5 proportion appropriate for 8x10, 11x14(ish), and 16x20 print sizes. "Cropped" digital files will usually be at full camera resolution, but are cropped to the 4:5 proportions for ease of printing.
PLEASE NOTE:
Effective 10/10/06, soccer action photos will be posted with both full-frame and cropped print sizes available. If you want the full-frame image as it appears on the website, you must order a full-frame print. Prints ordered in cropped sizes (5x7, 8x10, etc) will be cropped to the dominant subject.
Digital Files
Digital files are provided at full camera resolution, and may be cropped to reflect artistic judgement or to fit common print sizes. All digital files will be cropped (or not) to match the image in the gallery from which you place your order. Most digital files will print very well to 8x10 without any further adjustment by you; larger prints may be possible depending on the level of your experience and the equipment used for printing. Digital files may be emailed, posted on-line, and/or printed for personal use; our images may never be used for commercial purposes without our written permission and license to do so. We always appreciate links and credits when our images are used on-line; please feel free to link to our galleries and images.
All digital files will be delivered as level 10 jpeg files on a CD. All files included in a single order will be burned to one CD.
*Please note*: Our liability for digital files will be limited to replacement of faulty CDs within 7 days of delivery. Digital files may not be returned for refunds or credit; our only guarantee is that you will be able to read the CD on your computer. You are solely responsible for the quality of any prints or digital copies you make.
Prints:
All of our color prints are true photographic prints on borderless Kodak or Fuji Professional Paper unless noted otherwise. Most prints are delivered with a lustre print surface; in the few cases for which Glossy is available it will be listed as an ordering option.
Print orders over $20.00 (not including S&H) are generally delivered in 2-3 weeks; smaller print orders may take 3-5 weeks depending on volume. Fine art Black and White prints are printed with pigment inks on archival fine-art cotton papers; these prints are expensive to make but should outlast any traditional photographic print by decades if cared for properly. Pricing on black-and-white prints relfects their quality.
Not all print sizes are available for all images. Please see the "Cropping" section above for more information. Available print sizes for each image are listed under the images; please be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for the complete list.
Shipping and Handling
There is no minimum order; however, all orders must add $5.00 shipping and handling.
